Louise Shedd

Louise Shedd, 86, of Baileyton, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2019.  She was born August 18, 1932, to Rufus and Molly Jones Garrett.

Louise owned and operated a home daycare for many years. She loved and nurtured over 125 children, many of whom she cared for from birth until they began school. Her grownup daycare babies fondly remember her as “Nanny Shedd.” Mrs. Shedd was a member of Mt. Herman Baptist Church and an avid Braves fan.

Mrs. Shedd is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years, Kermit Shedd; a brother, Thomas Garrett; and sisters, Jewel Walker and Rachel Nolan.

Louise was loved by many. She is survived by sons, Randall (Debbie) Shedd, Dewayne (Nikki) Shedd, Dennis (Sherry) Shedd, Keith (Tara) Shedd; daughter, Kanitha Twilley; brother, Mansel (Loretta) Garrett; eight grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Louise are 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2019, at Welcome Baptist Church, Brother Jerry Harper officiating. Mrs. Shedd will lie in state from 10 a.m. until services begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Welcome Cemetery. Mrs. Shedd’s grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 20, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in the chapel of Holly Pond Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Mrs. Shedd to Childhaven Children’s Home.
